Promoting Mountain Biking STOKE with UNC Asheville’s Mountain Biking Team, Will Lovett
Leadership skills and qualities has often been touted by employers as among the most valued “intangibles” found in college graduates. So how does a full-time college student gain those skills and qualities? One way is through collegiate recreational sports programs.
Will Lovett, a rising senior majoring in Marketing & Management at UNC Asheville doesn’t just love mountain biking, he also loves to spread the mountain biking STOKE to his fellow students. He and a group of entrepreneurial friends and fellow mountain bike riders took their love of the sport to the next level and started a mountain biking team at UNC Asheville.
In this episode Will describes the process and challenge of forming a new collegiate club sport team while juggling the demanding schedule of a full-time student. He keys in on some of the specific leadership qualities he’s learning, and the correlation between this experience and direct application of what he is learning in the classroom.
